There are quite a few different ways of cooling & heating small areas such as a window A/C machine to replace a central A/C system
When a particular food item is in short supply or not available, all of us turn to substitutions. Getting margarine instead of butter is a well-known sub in baking. Artificial sweeteners are used when people can’t have too much sugar. Pepsi & Coca-Cola can actually be pretty good substitutions for one another depending on what the drinker has a taste for. Cost is a fairly huge factor that drives people to many kinds of alternatives. If beef is too costly then we commonly go with white meat or whatever is cheaper at the time. Some people even will change their lives and become vegans. In sports, some athletes have gained fame & fortune just being called a sub. John Havlicek (1940-2019) is in the NBA Hall of Fame having played as the 6th man for the Boston Celtics in the 1960s & 1970s. In our residences, if the electricity is not working, then all of us can go with using a gas-powered generator for a while to keep our refrigerator & freezer from shutting off. A loss of electricity also means no internet signal so all of us use the laptop DVD player instead of YouTube if the computer’s battery is charged. There are plenty of other things in our residences like antiques or possibly heirlooms that have no kind of subs in the least. Another thing with no actual sub is the cool & refreshing air that our central HVAC machines supply. There are quite a few different ways of cooling & heating small areas such as a window A/C machine to replace a central A/C system. There are also portable A/C machines that are costly & use so much energy. An old-fashioned fan will also supply a fair amount of relief from the heat, but it definitely can’t compete with the HVAC machine that keeps the entire residence cool. On a higher plane of thought, you can’t replace love, but that will be tested in any lengthy HVAC machine outage.
