Back before the pandemic, they had probably never cleaned the air ducts in our building before.
But then once the pandemic started up and everyone was freaking out about the indoor air quality, the building owners decided that they were going to do something to make sure that the air ducts in our office were squeaky clean.
I actually was pretty surprised that they decided to go to any trouble, since I had never really thought that the owners of the building cared much about the tenants who were renting their spaces much at all. I guess I was wrong about that, though, because the owners decided to call up the local commercial HVAC company that they have their contract with and get down to business. It turns out that while the office was closed down for several months, the HVAC company got really busy upgrading all of the heating and cooling equipment in the building. We got an entirely new furnace system and a new central air conditioning unit that would be able to handle multiple floors. Not only that, but the commercial HVAC company ended up installing all new ductwork, air registers, and heating and cooling vents throughout the building. To top it all off, they installed UV light air purifiers to run along with the new heating and cooling system. It was definitely a long time coming, but I think they finally did the right thing as far as the heating, cooling, and ventilation goes in our building. The indoor air quality in the office is the best that it has ever been.
