Shouldn’t let friend labor on our air conditioner

My central air conditioner quit while every one of us were in the middle of a lunch party last summer… It was toward the end of June, & we’d had an especially hot season; The outdoor temperature was in the low nineties with high humidity & not a hint of a breeze, my husband & I invited a few of our neighbors over for the night.

To make sure all the people would assume cool & comfortable, I’d lowered the temperature control by numerous degrees, and when the air conditioner failed, the home heated up certainly hastily.

I checked the temperature control & tried increasing the batteries. My husband checked the breaker & replaced the air filter; Other than that, neither a single of us had a clue how to repair it, and both of us aren’t handy people. Both of us figured it was worth paying extra & calling for emergency repair from a professional HVAC supplier. Both of us didn’t want our guests to be uncomfortable or live without air conditioner for the whole weekend. My a single friend then offered to go get his tools & take a look inside the cooling unit, then he seemed certainly confident that he could handle the repairs. Hoping to save ourselves some time, money & aggravation, my husband & I agreed. Our friend spent the next more than one minutes taking apart the cooling unit. He detachd a bunch of parts & made a lot of noise. It eventually became obvious that he had no plan what he was doing. When he put the air conditioner back together again, there were left over parts. The cooling system wouldn’t start up. Both of us finally called for emergency repairs & ended up paying a much bigger bill due to all of my neighbor’s assistance. He’d managed to bend fan blades, break belts & cause all sorts of issues that needed to be fixed.
