This household was always going to be a fixer upper, and I knew that going in.
It was in a good location, for a fine price, however the structure itself was a major dump.
It wasn’t really like buying a household the way other people actually think of it. It was something like buying an automobile at the junkyard and then rebuilding it. I purchased the locale, and I realized that it would take a couple of years before I could move into it permanently. Were I a rich man, this would be a much more simple problem to handle. With enough currency I could just call a general company and tell them what I wanted to have done, and then pay them. I can’t actually do that, buying the locale wiped me out entirely on a financial level, so the building and remodeling would have to be completely by hand slowly, over time, as I could afford the materials… First I started with the roof, because I felt that a sturdy roof would totally help in the future stages of renovation, remodeling, and construction. It would be the only way I could actually keep the rest of the construction materials dry and safe from the weather while I was toiling. It took a couple of weeks to patch up the roof, and a few more weeks to fix the things I happened to break. Finally the construction of the roof was completely finished. From there on out I followed the pattern of plotting out my next construction project, seeing tons of Youtube tutorials to study what I needed to know, and then buying the necessary materials.
