For several months now, I’ve watched our utility bill rise slowly. It got so bad that I had to call an HVAC professional to help me because I thought there was something wrong internally with our HVAC system. He said there were no leaks in the ductwork, the air filter was clean, and everything was where it should be. Before he left, he recommended that I try a smart thermostat, because it would help me run the system more efficiently and alert me to anything abnormal. I went out and purchased a smart thermostat that afternoon because I was desperate. I downloaded the corresponding app to my phone and tinkered with the settings. On Monday, while I was at work, my smart thermostat told me that someone had made a drastic change to the temperature. The only person home was my son, and he set the thermostat 8 degrees warmer!
