I tend to second guess myself a lot.
It’s been this way for as long as I can remember. If there is something that I have to make a decision on, there is always the second guessing. I’m trying to get better about that. But over thinking stuff is a behavior that is almost a default reaction in my brain. It takes some real presence of mind to stop all that. A recent HVAC situation is a great example. The HVAC tech came out to do the annual preventive maintenance. This is something I have done this time of year. We don’t have much of a winter so there really isn’t a load on the HVAC. However, summer is a different story as we deal with serious heat in this region. That’s why I like to get the HVAC tuned up to deal with the heat most effectively and efficiently. But this time the HVAC tech came to the door to tell me that the HVAC would need a rather expensive part prior to the heat getting here. I told him I’d call the HVAC office in order to schedule the HVAC repair. But by the time I had my phone out, I was already second guessing calling the HVAC people. Instead, I knew that a friend of mine had a handy man who did work on his HVAC. So I called him up and got the guy’s number. The price was certainly right as it was nearly half what the HVAC shop would charge. Yet, I couldn’t go through with it because the HVAC repair wouldn’t be guaranteed and he wasn’t a licensed HVAC tech.
