For the last year, my husband and I have been trying to figure out what to do with our heating system.
- We have a boiler in our home which heats the house and our water.
The boiler is now well over forty years old and it is giving us some trouble. It is not a good time to go to the HVAC center and get the parts my husband thinks he needs for the boiler. We are in our sixties and he is afraid of the coronavirus. Repairs that should have been done this year are now going to wait. We are both worried that our furnace will not get us through the entire winter. I am really glad that we didn’t have the fireplace removed as we had planned. We had discussed having the fireplace removed because it took up so much space in the living room. We thought the space could be much nicer if we didn’t have the fireplace. Now, we are discussing what kind of HVAC system we wanted to have in our house. My husband had been giving some serious thought to just ripping the old heating system out and installing ductless HVAC. He seems to think that would be a wonderful choice for us. The ductless HVAC system he is looking at has a fifteen year warranty, and they say it will have high efficiency. I guess we must see if the boiler continues to work through the winter before he decides. I just hope we don’t regret the decision to wait until spring and then find out we have no choice but to purchase a new HVAC system.
