Replacing your a/c air filter is important.
Any HVAC professional will warn you that forgetting to change the a/c air filter is the worst thing you can do.
If the air filter is old, it gets clogged with dust and debris and can no longer function like it is supposed to. This is especially true if you have a dog or cat. Pet dander and hair can clog up your air filter in nothing flat. Just about everyone has a calendar on their phone or computer nowadays, so I recommend that you add a recurring event to your calendar to remind you to replace your disposable a/c air filters. WE use technology for everything. We have reminders on what to do at work. We have reminders to make phone calls. We set reminders to give our dog his heartworm tablet. I don’t know why we are not setting reminders about our a/c service. It is even better if you keep a/c filters on hand. That way, when you see the reminder on your calendar, all you will have to do is go get one out of your closet. If you have to make a trip to the store before you can replace your a/c filter, you are less likely to get it done. Let’s face it. No one likes to go to the store, so if we are able to put it off, we do. An a/c air filter is super important to the health of your HVAC system, and even to your own health, but running out of them is not the same as running out of toilet paper or a prescription. People will go out right away to buy tp or refill their Rx, but the air filter is easy to put off.
