I didn't live up to my parent's dreams

I am pretty sure that my parents are disappointed in me.

They have always dreamed of me being a successful doctor or lawyer, and even at a young age would try to introduce me to the professional or people they know in the professional.

The thing is, I was not interested in either of those career choices, especially when I was kid, all I wanted to do was play back then. As I got older, the pressure only increased for me to study either medicine or law. It was really depressing at times, I already knew I wasn’t smart enough to be a doctor, whenever I would try to read medical books, the words would just blur on the pages. I also really didn’t want to be a lawyer, too much drama and I hate confrontation. Besides, I heard that a lot of lawyers do shady things if you pay them enough, and I don’t want to be a part of that. Anyways, I tried studying law and even went to college for it, even when I didn’t want to. I ended up dropping out, and my parents stopped speaking to me. I decided to instead go for being a HVAC specialist, and went to a heating and cooling school. I became a certified HVAC technician and graduated. I was really happy with my choice, being a HVAC technician was simple and sweet. I had a predictable schedule and I feel useful helping people with their broken heaters and A/C units. Even though I am happy being a HVAC professional, my parents aren’t and they still haven’t spoken to me. I really hope we can get along again soon, I’m finally happy.
